said corporation shall keep an accurate record and
description of the property so sold, and shall hold
the proceeds of such sale, after deducting the boom-
age and expenses, for the owner of the property
sold, for one year, after which, if no owner has
appeared and received the money in the interval,
one-fourth of the proceeds may be retained by the
company, and the remainder paid in the Treasury
for the use of the School Fund, and when logs,
boards or other lumber are boomed and secured,
which have no marks by which they can be iden-
tified, the same may be sold at public auction, in
the manner aforesaid, and the proceeds may be
retained by the said corporation; and all persons
sending logs or lumber of any kind down the said
river to be boomed in the boom of said corporation,
shall previously transmit by mail to the office of
the said corporation at Port Deposit a description of
the marks which they intend to use and the quan-
tity to be sent by them respectively, so as to ena-
ble the said corporation to identify and secure the
same, under a penalty of fifty dollars, which shall
be a lien upon the logs or other lumber of the per-
son so neglecting to forward a statement of the
marks and quantity aforesaid, and it shall be the
duty of the party sending logs or other lumber
down the said river to be boomed, to drive the
same as near the rafting place as the condition of
the boom will permit, and should he fail to do so,
and the same be done by the said corporation, the
expenses of so doing shall bo added to the boom-
age, and be in like manner a lien upon the lum-
ber; and before the said corporation commence
delivering logs, boards or other lumber out of said
boom they shall give ten days notice of their in-
tention so to do in one or more newspapers pub-
lished in Harford and Cecil counties respectively,
calling upon the owners of lumber within the
boom to take charge thereof when delivered out-
side of it; and should the owner of the logs,
boards or other lumber which has been delivered
from the boom not appear to claim the same within
twenty-four hours thereafter, the said corporation
may remove the same to some place of safety at
the expense of the said owner or owners, which addi-
tion to the charge of boomage shall be a lien on |
