ceived by said permanent board for licenses issued
by it shall constitute a fund to be disbursed by
order of the faculty of such district; the city of
Baltimore shall constitute a district, and each
county of the State shall constitute a district for
the purposes of this Act. |
Licensed Phy-
sicians to meet
annually. |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all this licensed
physicians shall constitute the medical faculty of
the State of Maryland, and that the members of
the said faculty residing in each district shall meet
annually on the first Monday in June, or as soon
thereafter as a number not less than one-fifth of
the whole number licensed, can be convened in
each respective district, at such places as shall be
determined and published by the respective boards
of examiners; at which meetings they shall elect
annually such officers and appoint such committees
as they may consider requisite to form a complete
organization for each district, and at their first
meeting to elect by ballot twelve respectable regu-
ular physicians in the city of Baltimore, and six
in each county and annually thereafter one half
that number, who shall constitute a permanent
board of examiners for each district. |
To be divi-
ded in two
classes. |
Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That immediately
after they shall be assembled in consequence of
their first election, they shall be divided by lot
into two equal classes; the seats of the examiners
of the first class shall be vacated at the expiration
of the first year, and those of the second class at
the expiration of the second year, so that one half
may be chosen every year; and if vacancies hap-
pen by resignation or otherwise, the President of
the faculty of the district shall make temporary
appointments until the next meeting of the facul-
ty, which shall then fill such vacancies. |
Quorum for
examining can-
didates. |
Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That any six of the
examiners elected for the city of Baltimore, and
any three of those elected for each county shall
constitute a quorum of the board in the said dis-
tricts for examining such candidates as may apply;
and shall subscribe their names to each license
granted by them, which license shall also be coun-
tersigned by the President of the faculty of the
district, and have the seal of the faculty of the |
