sum not less than one hundred nor more than two
hundred dollars.


Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the next an-
nual election for President and Directors of the
said Cumberland and Somerset Turnpike Road
Company shall be held in the city of Cumberland
on the first Tuesday of May, eighteen hundred and
sixty-seven, and annually on the same day in said
city thereafter; and in case the said Company shall
neglect or fail to hold an election on the said first
Tuesday of May next, then upon such neglect or
failure, John M. Buchanan, Joseph Dilly, John
Humbird and J. Philip Roman are hereby ap-
pointed trustees of said company, with full power
and authority to take possession of said turnpike
road from where the same intersects the National
road to the Pennsylvania line, and may appoint
and remove all gate keepers, and to do and exer-
cise all the powers of the President and Directors
of said company, with like restrictions until such
election of President and Directors shall take place
as hereinbefore provided.

Sec. 5. Be it enacted. That this act shall take
effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 134.


AN ACT to amend the charter of the Philadel-
phia and Baltimore Central Railroad Company.

Passed Mar.
19, 1867.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the time limited for the build-
ing of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Central
Railroad Company, be and the same is hereby ex-
tended to the first day of January, eighteen hun-
dred and seventy-three, and the said Philadelphia
and Baltimore Central Railroad Company is here-
by authorized to begin the construction of the
railroad from or near Stemmer's Run, on the Phil-
adelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad,
and to proceed thence to the Susquehanna river,
