AN ACT to incorporate the Maryland State Agri-
cultural and Mechanical Association. |
Preamble. |
WHEREAS a number of persons have formed an
Association for the encouragement of science and
practice of Agriculture and of the Mechanic's
Arts as connected therewith by the holding of ex-
hibitions, the distribution of premiums for excel-
lence, the publication of essays, transactions and
proceedings upon Agricultural subjects or subjects
kindred thereto, the institution of experiments,
the establishment of Libraries, the collection and
preservation of models and specimens, the provid-
ing of proper and convenient rooms and places of
resort for persons in pursuit of Agricultural in-
formation, and generally to promote the interests
of Agriculture and of the Arts and Sciences con-
nected therewith, and are now desirous of being
incorporated; herefore |

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Alfred Spates, of Allegany
county, N. B. Worthington, of Anne Arundel,
county, William Devries, Thomas H. Mules, E.
G. Ulery, Ezra Whitman, Edmund Law Rogers,
and Charles M. Dougherty, of Baltimore city; John
Meryman and Charles H. Nicolai, of Baltimore
county, Richard Mackall, of Calvert county, Will-
iam H. Smith, of Caroline county, George Patter-
son, of Carroll county, Jefferson Ramsay, of Cecil
county, John W. Jenkins, of Charles county,
William T. Goldsborough, of Dorchester county,
George R. Dennis and Anthony Kimmel, of Fred-
erick county, William B. Stephenson, of Harford
county, Samuel K. George, Jr., of Howard coun-
ty, Edward Wilkins, of Kent county, Allen B.
Davis, of Montgomery county, Oden Bowie, of
Prince George's county, James T. Earle, of Queen
Anne's county, H. G. S. Key, of St. Mary's coun-
ty, Dr. George R. Dennis, of Somerset county, E.
L. F. Hardcastle, of Talbot county, William
