in seven years from the time of its commence-
ment, then this Act shall be null and void. |

Sec. 18. And be it enacted, That nothing in
this Act shall be so construed as to authorize the
said company to issue any note, token, scrip or
evidence of debt to be used as currency, and the
Legislature hereby reserves the right to alter,
amend or repeal this Act at pleasure. |

Sec. 19. And be it enacted, That for the pur-
pose of constructing and equipping the Maryland
Central Railroad, chartered or to be chartered by
the Legislature of Pennsylvania and Maryland,
the said company is hereby authorized to borrow
money to any amount not exceeding fifteen hun-
dred thousand dollars, the interest thereon pay-
able semi-annually, and to issue their bonds there-
for in sums not less than one hundred dollars, and
to secure the payment of the said bonds and inter-
est thereon by executing and delivering to such
trustee or trustees as they may select a mortgage
or mortgages of all or any part of the road, pro-
perty, rights, liberties and franchises of the said
company in the State of Maryland. |

Sec. 20. And be it enacted, That the full and
entire assets of the State of Maryland be and the
same is hereby given to the provisions of any law
now enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Pennsylvania authorizing the borrowing of money
by the said Maryland Central Railroad Company
to any amount not exceeding fifteen hundred thou-
sand dollars, the interest thereon payble semi-
annually, for the construction and equipping of
said company's roads, and the issuing of bonds
therefor, and the mortgaging of all or any part of
the same, situate and being in the State of Penn-
sylvania, for the securing the payment of said
bonds with their interest. |

Sec. 21. And be it enacted, That the said Rail-
road Company may so construct their bridge across
the Susquehanna River as to admit of said bridge
being used for the purpose of crossing the river
with vehicles, horses, cattle or any other mode of
conveyance; the said company are hereby fully
authorized so to do and to exact and receive such
rates of toll from such persons as may use said |
