5th. Was Mr. Wright before the Board more than once?
6th. Do you say on your oath that no conversation occur-
red with Mr. Wright and Mr. Phillips and Mr. Halton,
your colleagues, while he was before the Board, with refer-
ence to the exclusion of Democrats as disloyal?
7th. When you left the room did not Mr. Wright on the
steps or in front of your office, say to you that you were
hard on the Democrats?
8th. Did not you say to Mr. Wright that you meant
Breckenridge Democrats?
9th. Did not Mr. Wright say to you that he would like
you to show him the difference between you and him, that
you supported Bell and he supported Breckenridge, and they
had both gone into secession?
10th. Was not that talk in consequence of what had pass-
ed in the office of the Board a few moments before?
11th. Do you recollect all that passed in the house before
the Board?
12th. Not recollecting all that passed in the house, and
not charging your memory with it as you say, can you say
positively that no conversation occurred between Mr. Wright,
Mr. Phillips and Mr. Halton, respecting their intention to
exclude Democrats?
13th. Did not Mr. Wright on his appearance before you
say, that he was willing to take the oath but was nut willing
to answer any question you might choose to ask him ?
14th. Did you never propound the oath in this form, "you
shall answer all such questions as shall be propounded to you
touching your right of registration and voting?"
15th. Did you ascertain and register the name of e-.'ery
free male white citizen or resident in or temporarily absent
from your district preparatory to administering the oath ?
16th. Did you enter as disloyal or disqualified, in the 7th
column, any but those who appeared and claimed the right
of Registration ?
17th. Did you enter any as "failing to appear and dis-
loyal?"
18th. How could it be a mistake when you coupled "dis-
loyal" with "failing to appear," and put both down in the
came column ?
19th. Mi stake of what?
20th. Did you enter in the seventh column the cause or
reason for the disqualification of all persons whom you enter-
ed as disqualified or did not extend as a qualified voter?
