61st. Joshua Lankford is entered, "known to be disloyal
by the Board." What act or word did you or any of the
Board know?
A. I did not consider it necessary to be sworn at
all as a witness. I have frequently heard him abuse the
Government, and I heard him say he would kill the Presi-
dent if he had the power, before he was killed.
62d. John T. Pusey is entered "disfranchised by public
reputation." What proof was there thereof? .
A. I do not recollect who John T. Pusey is.
63d. Randolph Tollit is disfranchised upon your testi-
mony, what was it?
A. heard him rejoice at a victory gained by the Confed-
erates.
64th. At what victory, and what did he say?
A. He did not fling up his hat and hallloo and hurrah,
but in a spirit of rejoicing said, "it was no use for the
Northeiners to contend with the South," and a good deal
more that I can't recollect. I forget at what victory.
65th. Was there but one victory of which you hoard him
speak ?
A. That is a hard question for me to answer. To say that
was the only one I can't say it, I heard him frequently talk-
ing about victories, but not in the spirit of rejoicing that the
first was.
66th. What do you mean by a spirit of rejoicing ?
A. To rejoice is to be glad.
67th. Did he say he was glad, or did you only so suppose
from his manner ?
A. He did not say he was glad, but could easily tell wheth-
er a man regrets a thing or rejoices at it.
68th. He did not say then, in any of those conversations, as
well as you can recollect, that he was glad or that he desired
the South to prevail over the North ?
A. No, but he said they would prevail.
69th. Do yon consider the declaration of an opinion that
the So'uth would prevail as equivalent to saying he desired it
to prevail ?
A. I do.
70th. What did Henry Pollit admit before the Board to
cause his disfranchisement ?
A. I do not recollect.
