Sworn to and subscribed before me, a Justice of the Peace
of the State of Maryland, in and for Worcester County, this
eighth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.

I, John R. Hill, do swear that I will discharge the duties
of Clerk to the above Officers of Registration, fully and faith-
fully, without favor or partiality, and that 1 will make no
entries herein, nor erase entries herefrom, unless directed by
said Officers of Registration. So help me God.

QUESTIONS PROPOUNDED BY THOMAS A. SPENCE
TO THE WITNESSES GEORGE H. RICHARDSON
AND JAMES S. LECOMPTE.
1st. Where do you reside, and what was your occupation
or pursuit on the 7th day of November last, and preceding
that time?
2d. Do you know the Honorable John R. Franklin, at
present the commissioned and qualified Circuit Judge of the
Twelfth Judicial Circuit of Maryland, and how long had
you known him, and where does he reside, and is there any
other person of the same name resident in the said election
district?
3rd. Where were you and where did you vote, if you did
vote, at an election held for Circuit Judge of the Twelfth
Judicial Circuit of Maryland, and other officers, on the 7th
day of November last?
4th. Was it or not generally known on that day, and at
the place where the said election was held, to and by the
voters of the said election district, that the officers of regis-
tration of the said election district, had refused to enter the
name of the said John R. Franklin on the hooks of regis-
tration, as a qualified voter, on account of his disloyalty under
the fourth section of Article first of the Constitution?
