15 Now a number of enterprising soldiers at this post, expect- ing _ their discharge shortly, are desirous of forming an asso- ciation for the purpose of settling in some of the Southern lands for agriculturcal and mechanical purposes. The article in Tribune of the lath, has led us to desire information con- cerning the lands of Maryland—where they are located, and on what terms they can be had by actual settlers, &c. Since my return some of my neighbors have gone down and purchased farms near the Choptank River in Caroline county, and quite a number of others are intending to go. Since my return I have seen a pamphlet on the "Resources of Maryland," but had no time to read it, I simply took your address, if you have any on hand I wish you would toward me one, and a list of farms for gale near some navergable stream in a healthy locality, or near some business place, or if there are good timber lands near water communication that can be bought low.
