VOLUNTEERS—
an act to aid and encourage enlistments into the
Maryland regiments in service of the United States
passed 1864, chapter 15, and to provide for the
prompt payment of the bounties therein specified;
and to repeal section 4, of said act, and to re-enact
the same so as to 'make the bounties therein speci-
fied, payable to the widows and heirs of deceased
soldiers, and to re-enact and amend the same, 167;
bill reported favorably and read the first time,
208; read second and third times and passed, 367;
sent to the Senate, 367; returned from the Senate
passed, 476.
Leave granted committee on the Judiciary to
report a bill to empower the Governor to furnish
duplicate discharges to all Maryland, during the
recent rebellion who may have been deprived of
the same without any fault or negligence upon
their part, 50, bill reported favorably and read the
first time, 157; read second time, 274.
Leave granted committee on Claims to report a
bill to compensate the County Commissioners and
Register of Baltimore, for paying bounties to, un-
der acts of February, 1864, chapter 15 and amend-
ments, 20.
Order adopted that the Adjutant General fur-
nish the House with the number of, in the army
and navy to the credit of the State of Maryland,
from the first of April, 1861, to May 26, 1863,
and from April,!, 1864, to January 1, 1865.
Resolution awarding a preference to the, who
served during the late war, for appointment to
civil offices, read the first time, loo; read second
time and passed, 415; sent to the Senate, 416.
