So it was resolved in the affirmative.
The house adjourns till Monday morning 9 o'clock.

M    O    N    D    A    Y,    December 12, 1796.

    THE house met.  Present the same members as on Saturday, except Mr. Winchester and Mr.
Ridgely.  The proceedings of Saturday were read.
    The resolution in favour of John Smith Brookes and Gassaway, Watkins, and the bill to prevent 
the exportation of flour not merchantable, and unsound salted provisions, from the port of Havre-de-Grace,
were sent to the senate by the clerk.
    Mr. Beall, Mr. Calvert and Mr. Chapman, appeared in the house.
    A petition from sundry inhabitants of Montgomery county, praying commissioners may be appointed 
to lay out a road from Deep Point, in Cornwallis's Neck, in Charles county, until it shall intersect
the public road at the New House, on the head of Mattawoman creek, in said county; which was
read the first and second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
    Mr. Quynn, junior, from the committee, brings in and delivers to the speaker a report on the 
petition of sundry inhabitants of Frederick-town; which was read the first and second time, concurred
with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto.  ORDERED, That Mr. Quynn,
junior, Mr. Brother and Mr. Shriver, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
    The report on the petition of Tristram Thomas was read the second time and concurred with.
    The clerk of the senate delivers the resolution respecting a tract of land called Widow's Lot,
endorsed; " By the senate, December 3, 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                            " By order,                            A.  VAN-HORN, clk.
" By the senate, December 10, 1796:  Read the second time and dissented from.
                                                            " By order,                            A.  VAN-HORN, clk."
The bill to enable the vestry of Christ Church parish, in Calvert county, to sell and dispose of certain
lands therein mentioned, endorsed; " By the senate, December 3, 1796:  Read the first time
" and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                            " By order,                            A.  VAN-HORN, clk.
" By the senate, December 10, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendments.
                                                            " By order,                            A.  VAN-HORN, clk."
    Amendments proposed.  In the 4th line of the 3d page strike out the words " the sum of three
hundred dollars," and insert " such sum as may be necessary for said purposes, provided the same do
not exceed the sum of one thousand dollars."  In the eighth line of the 3d page strike out the words
" six hundred" and insert " two thousand."  In the 13th line of the 3d page, after the word "church"
insert " and in erecting buildings and augmenting the improvements on the said tract of land called
Charles Gift."
    Which were read the first and second time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.
And the bill for recording a patent therein mentioned, endorsed; " By the senate, December 7,
" 1796:  Read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
                                                            " By order,                            A.  VAN-HORN, clk.
" By the senate, December 10, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass with the proposed amendment.
                                                            " By order,                            A.  VAN-HORN, clk."
    Amendment proposed.  Strike out from the word "acquired" in the 16th line of the 2d page to the
end of the bill, and insert " to the whole or any part of the said tract of land so as aforesaid patented."
    Which was read.
