RESOLVED, That the governor be authorised to draw
on the treasurer of the western shore of this
state for a sum not exceeding one hundred dollars to defray the expences
of the Catawba Indians in
and through this state on their way to Philadelphia, and for reimbursement
thereof to apply to the
executive of the United States.

county, have severally given due notice of their intentions to petition
the legislature for acts of insolvency,
and no objections or counter petitions having been offered to the committee
to induce an
opinion that they ought not to be relieved, they therefore think their
applications ought to be
granted.
The committee further report, that they find that
James Dunn, of Kent county, and George
Leggett, of Baltimore-town, have given no notice of their intention
to apply to the legislature for
acts of insolvency, and that memorials have been preferred to the general
assembly counter to the
petitions of the said George Leggett, and to the petition of Elkin
Solomon, stating, they have
fraudulently conveyed and disposed of their property, with a view of
defeating the claims of the said
memorialists, and the said memorialists have prayed that the application
of the said George Leggett
and Elkin Solomon may be rejected; whether it would proper for the
legislature to afford relief
to the said petitioners, your committee submit to the house.

Mr. Brother, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition
of John McPherson, of Frederick county,
report, that they have examined into the allegations set forth in the
said petition, and find them true.
Your committee are of opinion that the petitioner is entitled to relief,
and submit the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore
be and he is hereby authorised and directed to
allow lieutenant-colonel John McPherson, in the settlement of his account
for militia fines, the sum
of twenty-four pounds eight shillings and eight-pence, it being the
sum paid by the said John
McPherson in carrying into effect the law to regulate and discipline
the militia of this state.
All which is submitted to the house.

Which was read.
Mr. Hall, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to the speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition
of Gassaway Watkins, of Anne-Arundel
county, report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and
are of opinion the prayer
thereof may, with propriety, be granted, and recommend the following
resolution:
RESOLVED, That Gassaway Watkins, of Anne-Arundel
county, be and he is hereby allowed to
make payment to the state in the following manner, to wit: One
third of the principal sum now
due shall be paid on the first day of January, seventeen hundred and
ninety-eight, with all the interest
then due on the said principal sum, one other third on the first day
of January, seventeen hundred
and ninety-nine, with interest on the principal then due, and the remaining
third on the first
day of January following, with interest as aforesaid; but if the said
Gassaway Watkins shall neglect
to pay any one instalment as aforesaid, then he shall be liable to
be executed for said instalment,
with all interest due on the same.
All which is submitted to the house.
