3320 CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION OF MARYLAND [Jan. 6]

In a few weeks my father will be coming
to the legislature to enact certain laws
which we have forced upon him. We should
welcome him.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Dorsey.

DELEGATE DORSEY: Mr. President,
I would like to call to the Convention's at-
tention that seated in the balcony to my
right is the charming wife of Delegate
Kirkland of Prince George's County and
his son, Richard, who is a senior at Suit-
land High School. I wish the Convention
would give them a warm welcome.

(Applause.)

THE PRESIDENT: Delegate E. J.
Clarke.

DELEGATE E. CLARKE: Mr. Presi-
dent, in the balcony to the rear of the
Chamber is the assistant to the Chairman
of the Republican National Committee and
he is also the vice chairman of the Republi-
can State Central Committee, Mr. Donald
R. Kimble and his son, Billy Kimble.

(Applause.)

DELEGATE E. CLARKE: Another dis-
tinguished citizen of Montgomery County
who has been here many days is John
Benedict in the gallery over the President's
stand who is the editor of the Suburban
Record of Montgomery County.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Kiefer.

DELEGATE KIEFER: Mr. President,
I would like this Convention to welcome
my very warm friends, Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Moore of Anne Arundel County of
the City of Annapolis, Maryland, with my
ever forbearing wife.

THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Barrick.

DELEGATE BARRICK: I would like
the Convention also to welcome Monroe
Feaga from Frederick. He is the father
of Helen Feaga who has been a page here
and worked very hard. He also has a son
and I wish you to welcome him.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Caldwell.

DELEGATE CALDWELL: Mr. Presi-
dent, I would like for the delegates to wel-
come my son in the rear balcony, Jerry
Caldwell, Jr., and his friend, Ellen Bauer
who is an administrative assistant in the
president's office.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Della.

DELEGATE DELLA: Mr. President, I
would like to recognize the presence of
Anne Hopkins' husband in the balcony,
Sam Hopkins.

(Applause.)

THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Hard-
\vicke.

DELEGATE HARDWICKE: Mr. Presi-
dent, ordinarily I do not take the Conven-
tion's time, but I would think I have to in
self defense; otherwise, when I get home I
will hear about it. I would like to indicate
the presence of my wife, Mary, my daugh-
ters, Sandra, Christine, and Heidi Hard-
wicke, and my sons, John and Timothy, in
the balcony over the President's head and
my daughter, Sue Jill, who is serving as a
page in the front there.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Pullen.

DELEGATE PULLEN: Is that thing
working?

THE PRESIDENT: Yes.
(Laughter.)

DELEGATE PULLEN: I was not going
to do this, but I would like to note in these
closing hours the presence of my wife who
is supposed to be up there and if she is,
I hope you will give her a warm welcome.
She has been coming here quite regularly
and I have considerable advice to give,
and I want to say to Mr. Chabot, if you
want to know what patience is, wait until
you are married to a man for forty-five
years.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Hopkins.

DELEGATE HOPKINS: I know the
Convention will want to greet in that gal-
lery the wife of Delegate Hickman.

(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Sherbow.

DELEGATE SHERBOW: Mr. Presi-
dent, as long as we are classifying, I want
to be considered in Delegate Pullen's class.
Mrs. Sherbow and I have been married for
forty-five years and still as patiently as
ever, she is sitting up in the gallery
waiting to see when we will adjourn.

(Applause.)
