'Cast your votes.
Has every delegate voted ? Does any dele-
gate desire to change his vote?
(There was no response.)
The Clerk will record the vote.
There being 61 votes in the affirmative
and 57 in the negative, the motion carries.
Committee Recommendation GP-4 as amend-
ed is adopted.
We will now revert — for what purpose
does Delegate Weidemeyer rise ?
DELEGATE WEIDEMEYER: Mr. Presi-
dent, I thought we were voting on the report
for the recommendation. I now understand
we are voting on the motion to strike the
recommendation. I would like to have my
vote changed.
THE PRESIDENT: You were not voting
on any amendment to strike. You were
voting on a recommendation. A vote Aye
was a vote in favor of the Committee Rec-
ommendation. A vote No was a vote
against.
DELEGATE WEIDEMEYER: I voted
No. I wish to have it that way,
THE PRESIDENT: Very well.
For what purpose does Delegate White
rise ?
DELEGATE WHITE: I just wanted to
make certain whether or not we had put
this question to rest.
THE PRESIDENT: Under the Conven-
tion's rules, as the Chairman pointed out
yesterday, motions to reconsider any mat-
ters adopted by the Convention are in order
at any time prior to adjournment sine die.
DELEGATE WHITE: Thank you.
THE PRESIDENT: We now revert to
consideration of Committee Recommenda-
tion GP-2 as amended.
For what purpose does Delegate Willis
rise?
DELEGATE WILLIS: A point of per-
sonal privilege, Mr. President.
THE PRESIDENT: State the privilege.
DELEGATE WILLIS: I would like to
present to the Convention three members
of the staff of the Board of Education of
Harford County who are in the balcony in
front of the chamber: Mr. A. A. Roberty,
Mr. Al Halsey, and Mr. Leslie Goodwin.
These three gentlemen have gone a long
|
way to make it possible for me to be here.
I would like to give them a real welcome.
(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: We have before us
Committee Recommendation GP-2, Amend-
ment No. 1, proposed by Delegate Cardin
and seconded by the numerous other spon-
sors whose names appear on the amend-
ment.
The Chair recognizes Delegate Cardin to
speak to the amendment.
DELEGATE CARDIN: Mr. President,
first I should like to correct an error. The
name of Delegate Gleason was by error in-
cluded in this.
THE PRESIDENT: Pardon me.
The Clerk calls my attention to the fact
that the amendment was not read before
we passed it over.
The Clerk will read the amendment.
