THE PRESIDENT: Are there any
further questions of the Chairman?
(There was no response.)
I would like to make just one comment
with respect to the last comment of the
Chairman of the Rules Committee. I would
anticipate that this Convention would con-
sider again before it adjourns the question
raised by Delegate Wheatley, and decide
at that time what agency it desires to con-
tinue any effort, if it desires any continued
efforts. Delegate Scanlan?
DELEGATE SCANLAN: I move at this
time the adoption of the amendment to Rule
22 [23] proposed by Delegate Frank Robey,
that we add to the last line listing the com-
mittees, "a Committee on Public Informa-
tion," such Committee to have the functions
specified and referred to in the final para-
graph of the Fifth Report of the Commit-
tee on Rules, Credentials and Convention
Budget.
THE PRESIDENT: Is there a second?
DELEGATE BARD: Second.
THE PRESIDENT: Are you ready -for
the question?
(Call for the question.)
The question arises on the motion to ap-
prove the Fifth Report of the Committee
on Rules, Credentials and Convention
Budget and amend Rule 22 [23] of the
Standing Rules of the Convention by add-
ing an additional committee designated as
Committee on Public Information. All those
in favor, signify by saying Aye; contrary,
No. The Ayes have it. It is so ordered.
May I suggest to the delegates who are
interested in keeping track of the amend-
ments, that the Fifth Report is dated Sep-
tember 22, 1967, which is the date it was
filed by the Committee with the Clerk. It
was first presented to you today. If you
want to note the dates, you can do so in
pen and ink. Thank you, Delegate Scanlan.
