that 20 per cent of the employees would like to bargain.
Would they forego the election as to whether to be
represented by a particular union? Do hey bargain
without an election?
DELEGATE BOTE: There is no magic to an
election. The National Labor Relations Act has machinery
in which the Federal Government will conduct d-ections
in the event that there is some question as to whether
a particular labor organization repr»nts the majority
of employees, but there is nothing to preclude and
very frequently it happens, that without any formal
designation of the majority, the employer sits down with
a group of employees whom he is satisfied are representative
of the employees in his establishment.
