constructive effort to upgrade that Constitution so that
it becomes a yet more workable and effective instrument
for the government of our State and for the well being
of all of its people, and for the preservation of these
vital freedoms.
May each of these here gathered for this purpose
feel the burden of responsibility that has been given them
by their Constitution, may they feel the honor of that
burden, and may they each, seeking thy help and they guidance,
bring to the business of this day, their best mind --
their best judgment and their best dedication to a great
task.
In all things may they be tolerant, each of the
other man's opinion, and be welded together in a single
fellowship dedicated to the strengthening of our great State.
Out of the work they do, the hours of time they
spend, the judgments they must make, may they forge a
Constitution for the State of Maryland that will be fair
and just and reasonable for many years to come.
God bless this Constitution Assembly, and keep
its members and their people in Thy love and care. Amen.
