3.02 is concerned.
THE CHAIRMAN:. Delegate Gallaqhcr.
DELEGATE GALLAGHER: That is correct.
THE CHAIRMAN: Delegate Beatrice Miller.
DELEGATE B. MILLER: May I ask the Chairman
a question?
THE CHAIRMAN: State your question.
DELEGATE B. MILLER: Would the Chairman be
willing to take the sentence, which seems to distress so
many delegates, out of the statement, the second sentence,
beginning with "each district shall consist of adjoining
territory and be compact in form"?
THE CHAIRMAN: Delegate Gallagher.
DELEGATE GALLAGHF.R: Delegate Miller, I think
that since I am only one of 20 on this amendment, that. I cannot speak for the other 20 . If the other 20 would
allow me to speak for them, I presumably wcould work out
something but I suggest we are just drafting, and on the
floor here, it seems to me, an amendment which might well
he reconsidered by al] the sponsors together to get their
combined interoretation of it. |
