Convention: You may not consider that this is a particularly

important vote, but I tell you that it is very conceivable
|
|

that the adoption of the Constitution is at stake, there are
|
|
13
|
many people in the State of Maryland who don't want to see
|
|
14
|
Maryland plunged into a gambling fiesta or a future in
|
|
15
|
which Maryland will become an eastern Las Vegas. This is
|
|
16
|
definitely in the offing. In the last session I believe a
|
|
17
|
lottery bill passed the House of Delegates. Pressures on
|
|
18
|
the General Assembly are enormous. Since I have been in the
|
|
19
|
General Assembly each session we have to resist the pressure
|
|
20
|
of gambling and gamblers.
