to pay tribute to the very able, industrious and intelligent

members of our Committee who worked hard on this matter

and who believe in education with all their hearts and

4

souls .

Our approach is different as would be the ap-

6

proach of two different parents in determining how they

7

would raise a child.

It is our feeling that the greatest disservice

9

we could do would be to put some confines on education as it

10

has existed in this State.

11

We believe that education is too precious a

12

thing to tamper with, to try to fetter or confine.

13

We believe that edcuation is too precious a thing

14

to leave solely to educators. We believe that it is a

15

concern of every man, woman and child in this State, and

16

for that reason we, believing that we love education not

17

less but more, have suggested this simple language, which

18

has served this State so well for one hundred years . We

19

have changed it only to try to capture the. thought of the

20

future, that we would go on with every hope and expecta-

21

tion that education would expand and evolve as well as it
