It was decided in the affirmative.
On motion of Mr. Stockbridge,

The Convention returned to the consideration of section
eight.

Mr. Stockbridge submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 8. Amend by adding, "and for any vacancy in said
office not herein provided for, provision may be made by law,
and if such vacancy should occur without such provision be-
ing made, the General Assembly shall be convened by the
Secretary of State for the purpose of filling said vacancy; "

Decided in the affirmative.
On motion of Mr. Thomas,

The Convention then returned to the consideration of sec-
tion 9.

Mr. Thomas submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 9. Strike out the word "Government, " in the first
line, and insert the words "office of the Governor; "

Decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Stockbridge was excused from attending the evening
session of the Convention this evening.

Mr. Valliant was excused from attending the sessions of
the Convention for a few days.

On motion of Mr. Jones, of Somerset,
The Convention took a recess until 8 o'clock.

EVENING SESSION.

The Convention met at 8 o'clock, P. M.

All the members present except the following:

Messrs. Audoun, Baker, Barron, Belt, Berry, of Baltimore
county, Berry, of Prince George's, Blackiston, Bond, Briscoe,
