Gwinn, Stewart or Balt, city, Brent of Balt, city, Sherwood of
Balt, city, Ware, Shower and Brown—22.
NEGATIVE—Messrs. Chapman, Pres't, Morgan, Blakistone,
Dent, Hopewell, Mitchell , Dorsey, Wells, Randall, Sell man, Weems,
Bond, Brent, of Charles, Buchanan, Coiston, Dashiell, Eccles
ton, Miller, McLane, McCubbin, Bowling, Spencer, Dirickson,
McMaster, Hearn, Fooks, Jacobs, Thomas, Shriver, Gaither,
Biser, Annan, Sappington, Stephenson, Nelson, Thawley,
Schley, Fiery, Neill, John Newcomer, Harbine, Michael New
corner, Davis, Kilgour, Brewer, Waters, Anderson, Weber, Hol
lyday, Slicer, Fitzpatrick, Smith, Parke and Cockey—-54.
So the amendment was rejected,

On motion of Mr. Morgan,
Said 12th section was amended by adding at the end thereof
be following
"Each of the said two courts shall consist of one judge, who shall
hold his office for the term of ten years, subject to the provisions
of this constitution, with regard to the election and qualifications
of Judges and their removal from office, and the salary of each
of thesaid judges shall be twenty-five hundred dollars per year;"

The said 12th section having been read through as amended;
On motion of Mr. Dorsey,

Said section was further amended by inserting after the word
"vested" in the 4th line, the words "within their respective juris
diciton;"

Mr. Howard moved further to amend said section by adding at
the end thereof the following:

"And in case it shall hereafter be deemed proper by the Legis
lature to establish another court with exclusive chancery jurisdic
tion for the city of Baltimore, they are hereby authorised to provide
for the election of a judge with a salary of $2,500;"
Which was read.

Mr. Merrick, moved to amend said amendment by striking out
these words "exclusive chancery jurisdiction;"

Which amendment Mr. Howard accepted.

The question then recurred on the adoption of the amendment
as amended;

Mr. Harbine, offered as a substitute for said amendment the
following:

"And the Legislature shall whenever it may think the same
proper and expedient provide by law another court for the city of
Baltimore, to consist of one judge to be elected by the qualified
voters of said city, who shall be subject to the same constitutionaL
provisions; hold his office for the same term of years, and receive
the same compensation as the judge of the Court of Common
