The question then recurred upon the motion of Mr. Phelps, to
amend the order offered by Mr. James U. Dennis, by striking out
‘‘ihitty minutes," and inserting ‘‘one hour;''
Mr James U. Dennis, by permission of the Convention, modi
fled his order by striking out ‘‘thirty minutes," and inserting ‘‘forty
five minutes;"
The question then recurred and was put on the motion of Mr.
Phelps, to strike out ‘‘forty-five minutes,' ‘ and insert ‘‘one hour;''

So the amendment was rejected.
Mr. Merrick, then moved to amend said order by inserting after
the word "Convention'' in the 1st line, these words, ‘‘after to-mor
row."
Mr. Smith, moved that the Convention suspend further proceed
ings on said order and proceed to the consideration of the order of
the day;
Determined in the affirmative.
The Convention then resumed the consideration of the order of
the day, being the sever-al reports of the conrmittee on Represen
tation
The question pending before the Convention, being on the a
mendment offered by Mr. Dorsey, on the 21st inst., as a substitute
for the amendment offered by Mr. Schley, to the 2nd section of
the report submitted by Mr. Merrick, as chairman of the commit-
tee on Representation.
Mr. Dorsey, (by consent of the Convention.) amended his sub
stitute, by adding at the end thereof, the following:
"And the residence in the District, requisite to give a right of
suffrage in voting for Delegates, shall be six months next preceeding
the election, but in case any voter otherwise qualified shall have
resided less than six months in the district of his then residence,
