Mr. Chambers, of Kent, offered the following resolution:
Resolved, That John G. Chapman having received a larger
number of the votes cast than any other person voted for, is duly
elected, and is hereby declared to be President of this Convention.
Determined unanimously in the affirmative.
Whereupon, John G. Chapman was declared duly elected, and
was conducted to the Chair by Mr. Johnson and Mr. Blakistone.
On motion of Mr. Bowie,
The Convention adjourned until to-morrow, at 12 o'clock.


WEDNESDAY, November 13th, 1850.
The Convention met pursuant to adjournment.
Present the same members as yesterday.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Griffith.
The minutes of yesterday were read and approved.
Mr. Phelps, offered the following resolution
Resolved, That a committee of seven members be appointed
by the President to prepare and report rules for the government of
the convention, and that, in the meantime, the rules of the House
of Delegates, so far as the same are applicable, except the rule
for the previous question, and that two-thirds should be required
to alter any rule, be adopted;
Determined in the affirmative.
Mr. Jenifer, offered the following resolution:
Resolved, That a committee of be appointed
to enquire and report what method will be most expedient in
bringing before the convention, amendments to the constitution of
the State.
