Mr. Brent, of Baltimore city, offered the following amendment
to the substitute:
Strike out all after the word "resolved" and insert "that the
candidate having the largest number of votes on the second count
hereafter, be declared President of this Convention;"
Determined in the affirmative.
Mr. Tuck moved to amend the resolution by adding "unless
the President be elected on the first vote;"
Determined in the affirmative.
The question being on the passage of the resolution as amended,
Mr. Brown, moved that the question be taken by yeas and
nays;
And the House refused to order the yeas and nays.
The resolution was then adopted.
Mr. Constable, moved that the House do now adjourn;
Mr. Harbine, moved that the question be taken by yeas and
nays;
