1799.  NOVEMBER.                      LAWS OF MARYLAND.

                                                  CHAP. XLV.
An ACT to authorise and empower the levy court of Caecil county
  to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of John
  Maloy.     Lib. JG. No. 3. fol. 284.

WHEREAS John Maloy, of Caecil county, by his petition to this general assembly hath set
forth, that he is deprived of the use of his limbs by a stroke of the palsy, and has no other
means of subsistence but what he receives from the labour of an aged and indigent mother, and prays
an act may pass to enable her to provide for his future maintenance out of the poor-house; and the
facts stated in said petition appearing to be true, therfore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the justices of Casecil county levy
court shall be and are hereby directed and empowered, at their levy court annually, so long as they
shall see cause, to assess and levy on the assessable property of said county a sum of money, not exceed-
ing forty dollars, for the support and maintenance of said John Maloy, and that the same be collected
annually by the collector or collectors of Caecil county, and paid to such person as the levy court of
said county shall or may direct.

                                              CHAP. XLVI.
An ACT to explain the law respecting hawkers and pedlers.     Lib. 
   JG. No. 3. fol. 284.

WHEREAS doubts have arisen whether persons have a right to take goods, manufactured by
themselves or others within this state, from place to place for sale without licence being first
had and obtained for that purpose,

II. BE IT ENACTED,  by the General Assembly of Maryland, That any person or persons shall have full
power and authority to take any dry goods, wares or merchandise, manufactured within this state, to
any part of the state for sale, and may there sell, barter or dispose of the same, without any licence
for that purpose.

                                              CHAP. XLVII.
An ACT declaring a road leading to a fork of Conowago road, in
   Baltimore county, a public highway.     Lib. JG. No. 3. fol. 285.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That all that road in Baltimore county, be-
ginning at a stone marked J. P. fixed on the west side of the Conowago road, on the land of
John Price, and running thence to a stone marked A, thence south, seventy-six degrees west, one
hundred perches, thence north, eighty-five degrees west, to a stone marked T. M. A. P. and running thence west to the public road, being a fork of Conowago road, shall be and is hereby declared a 
public highway, and to be kept in repair as the other highways are in said county.

                                                CHAP. XLVIII.
An ACT to confirm an act, * entitled, An act to alter, abolish and 
  repeal, certain parts of the constitution and form of government 
of this state as therein mentioned,     Lib. JG. No. 3. fol. 285.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That an act passed at November session, se-
venteen hundred and ninety-eight, entitled, An act to alter, abolish and repeal, certain parts
of the constitution and form of government of this state as are therein mentioned, shall be and the
same is hereby confirmed.

                                           CHAP. XLIX.
 A Supplement to an act, * entitled, An act to direct descents.      Lib.
     JG. No. 3. fol. 285.

WHEREAS by an act of the general assembly, passed at November session, one thousand seven
hundred and eighty-six, entitled, An act to direct descents, the county courts, or the chan-
cellor, as the case may be, are authorised to appoint commissioners, either to divide, or eventually
