265. There shall be the following numbers of justices of the
peace and constables for Washington County to be appointed
for the election districts of said county, as follows: Number
one, two justices of the peace and two constables: number two,
three justices of the peace and two constables; for number three,
seventeen, twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-four and'twenty-
five, constituting the town of Hagerstown and vicinity, eight
justices of the peace and foui constables; number four, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number five, three
justices of the peace and two constables; number six, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number seven, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number eight, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number nine, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number ten, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number eleven, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number twelve, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number thirteen, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number fourteen, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number fifteen, two
justices of the peace and two constables; number sixteen, two

265A. The Governor, in the commission to be issued by
him to the justices of the peace appointed from and for dis-
tricts three, seventeen, twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-four
and twenty-five, shall designate one of said justices of the
peace as police justice in and for Hagerstown; which said
justice of the peace shall, in addition to his duties as justice
of the peace of the State of Maryland, have the enforcement
of the charter and ordinance of said town; he shall have all
the powers of ordering arrests and summoning witnesses that
is now vested in him by law, and he shall demand and receive
the same fees as in other criminal proceeding; the said police
justice of the peace shall be furnished with a copy of the
charter and ordinances of said town, and each shall keep a
