LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Power to enact
rules, by-laws,
etc.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That the president and'
directors of the corporation hereby created shall have power
to enact anp adopt such rules, regulations and by-laws for the
government and management of the affairs of said corporation,
as they may deem advantageous to the interests thereof; pro-
vided, the same be not contrary to the law of the land.

SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That the General Assem-
bly reserves the right to appeal, alter or amend this Act at
its pleasure.

SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 500.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
twenty-two, of Article 81, of the Code of Public General
Laws, title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title "Rate and
Items of State Tax," as said section was amended by the
Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, Chapter two
hundred and twenty.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, A new loan is about to be issued for the erection
of a new State building and for the improvement to sundry
State institutions; and,

WHEREAS, It is deemed advisable to readjust the State tax
rate to meet the interest and provide a sinking fund for said
contemplated loan, and also to meet the interest and provide
for the sinking funds upon the present outstanding loans of
the State; now, therefore,

Rate and items
of State tax.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section twenty-two, of Article 81, of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title
"Rate and Items of State Tax," as said section was amended
by the Act of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, Chapter
two hundred and twenty, be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, so as to read as follows:

Apportion-
ment of tax
rate for 1900.

22. The County Commissioners of the several counties of
this State and the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City are
directed to levy the State taxes for the year nineteen hundred,
to be collected according to law, and to be apportioned as fol-
lows: A tax of ten and one-half cents on each one hundred
dollars to aid in support of the public schools, to be distributed
