CHAPTER 466.
AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Council of Kensington,
Montgomery County, Maryland to issue bonds for the pur-
pose of providing a proper water supply for said town.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of Maryland, That the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Kensington, in Montgomery County, Maryland, be and they
are hereby authorized and empowered to cause to be prepared
bonds of said town of the par value of not to exceed twenty
thousand ($20,000) dollars, to be due and payable in thirty
years from the date thereof, or sooner, at the discretion of the
Mayor and Council after ten years, to bear interest at the rate
of four (4) per cent, per annum, and to sell the same in the open
market; provided that none of said bonds shall be sold at less
than par.

SEC. 2. The said bonds shall be signed by the Mayor and
the clerk and the treasurer of said town, and shall have the
seal of the town attached; shall be numbered consecutively as
sold and shall be recorded in a suitable book kept for that pur-
pose, together with the denomination of each, the name of the
purchaser and the amount received from the sale thereof.
They shall have printed on them a direct reference of this
Act and the election directing- their issue. The interest on
them shall be due and payable semi-annually on the 1st day
of January and July in each year.

SEC. 3. That the proceeds of the sale of said bonds shall be
applied, first, to the payment of the necessary expenses in-
curred in the preparation and sale thereof; and second to the
payments of amounts to become due and payable under con-
tracts which are hereby authorized, for providing a suitable

and sufficient supply of water in said town, and for furnish-
ing, laying and completing distributing mains, gates, hydrants
and connections, and other apparatus and appliances necess-
sary for the proper purposes of this Act.

SEC. 4. That before entering into any contract for accom-
plishment of the purposes herein set forth, the Mayor and
Council shall secure the services of an experienced and com-
petent engineer, under whose direction and superintendence
all machinery and supplies shall be furnished and work done,
and who shall be required to give bonds to said Mayor and
Council in the sum of not less than five thousand dollars
($5,000), conditioned upon the proper and efficient operation
of the entire plant when completed and delivered to the town,
