violating said ordinance by erecting buildings of wood in
parts or sections thereof where the same are not allowed
under said ordinance.

(19.) To require by ordinance that every party or person
who wishes or proposes to erect any buildings in said town,
to make a written application to the Commissioners for a
permit to erect the same before beginning work thereon, and
in such application to set forth the location, character, mate-
rials, purposes and uses of said building, and to obtain before
beginning work on the same a permit, printed or written,
signed by the town clerk, on the order of the Commission-
ers, and entered at length in the minute book, and by ordin-
ance to prescribe penalties for erecting or beginning to erect
buildings without such permit.

(20.) To provide by ordinance for taking down and remov-
ing any building of wood erected in any part or section of
the town in violation of an ordinance wherein the erection of
buildings of wood are forbidden, and for taking down and
removing any building erected without a permit first had and
obtained from the Commissioners.

(21.) To prevent by ordinance breaches of the day called
Sunday so as to forbid traffic, barter and sale in all commodi-
ties except medicines, and to prohibit gambling, unseemly
amusements, games, exhibitions and entertainments, and to
prescribe penalties for violations of the ordinance or ordinances
passed in the matter of the premises.

(22.) To provide, by ordinance, for establishing a building
line for the erection of buildings on the streets, lanes, alleys
and thoroughfares of said town, or by order in the case of
particular buildings.

(23.) To restrain all disorders, to prevent the firing of fire-
arms, guns, pistols, fire-crackers and all other explosives,
whatever be their form or device, within the corporate limits,
to prevent fast riding on horseback or on bicycle, to regulate
the use of bicycle, to prevent fast driving in carriage, wagon
or on any vehicle, to restrain whatever produces unreasonable
annoyance or inconvenience to persons while passing along
the streets and thoroughfares of the town, or that subjects
them to the risk and danger of injury or harm.

(24.) To order the taking down and removal of any house
or building deemed dangerous and unsafe, and to direct the
taking down of the same without delay.
