LAWS OF MARYLAND.

said corporation may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded,
answer and defend in all courts of law and equity in this State,
and may make, execute and deliver, or have, or cause to be
made, executed and delivered to it all deeds transfers, gifts,
grants, conveyances, contracts and agreements necessary for
the purposes and objects of said corporation, and may have
and use a common seal, which it shall have power to alter and
renew at pleasure, and generally to do every other act or thing
necessary to carry into effect the provisions, objects and pur-
poses of this Act, and not inconsistent with the laws of the
State and of the United States.

Purposes of.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said The William Wat-
ters Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church is a corporation
formed for the purpose of advancing and propagating the
Christian religion according to the doctrine, rules and dis-
cipline of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which are, and
which shall hereafter be, made and announced by the General
Conference of said Methodist Episcopal Church, and by the
Baltimore Conference of said church, and for that purpose to
acquire by purchase or otherwise, and to own real estate not
exceeding thirty acres, as aforesaid, and to improve trite same
with buildings, and for the further purpose of opening and
maintaining a cemetery or burial ground.

Number
of trustees.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the trustees or managers of
said corporation shall be ten in number and shall he the same
as are now the trustees or managers of The William Watters
Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church of Harford County,
one of the corporations hereby consolidated into a new corpo-
ration, and that the said board of trustees shall hereafter be
constituted, appointed, perpetuated and have its vacancies
filled according to the provisions of the discipline of the
Methodist Episcopal Church which are and which shall here-
after be made and provided for such cases by the General Con-
ference of said Methodist Episcopal Church.

SEC 5. And be it enacted, That the said corporation hereby
formed shall hold, use, own and enjoy all the lands and
property of every kind and description which are now owned,
held or occupied by either of the two corporations which are
hereby consolidated into said new corporation, as fully and
to the same extent in every respect as the two original cor-
porations could do.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
