JOHN WALTER SMITH, ESQ., GOVERNOR.

City of Baltimore, Maryland, to be designated by said Com-
missioners. The said bonds shall be of even date, and be
payable as to principal in thirty years from date of their issue,
and shall bear interest from and after six months from the
date of their issue not to exceed four per centum per annum.
The said bonds shall be forever exempt from taxation, and
shall have printed on them a distinct reference to the Act of
Assembly authorizing their issue. The said bonds shall be
consecutively numbered, be signed by the President of the
Commissioners of Hyattsville, or Mayor, if there shall be
one, and the treasurer of said town, and the corporate seal
shall be affixed thereto and be attested by the Clerk of the
Commissioners. It shall be the duty of the said treasurer
and clerk, respectively, to enter a full register of the said
bonds, and when sold, the names and addresses of the1 pur-
chasers, amount realized opposite the numbers of the bonds,
in separate books to be especially provided for that purpose,
one to be retained in the official custody of the said Commis-
sioners, and the other in the custody of the treasurer. It
shall be the duty of the said president, clerk and treasurer,
respectively, to examine and compare the accounts in the
said books as often as once a year, and certify to the same in
the books by the written signatures of the President of the
Commissioners, the clerk and the treasurer, with the date
opposite their respective signatures.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Commissioners are
hereby authorized and directed to cause to be constructed
and maintain a system of water- works for the town of Hyatts-
ville, and to purchase in fee simple or lease, in the corporate
name of the Commissioners of Hyattsville, any land which
they may deem expedient for the purpose of establishing
and maintaining the said water-works. The said Commis-
sioners are also hereby vested with the power of condemna-
tion under rights of eminent domain, as provided in Article
23, Section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, as fully as if said section
had been herein incorporated. The said manner of procedure
of the said Commissioners in condemnation to be in all par-
ticulars the same as is provided by said Article and section
aforesaid.

control of hydrants in the streets for the protection of property
from fire, and such other purposes as they shall specify; to
