bury, and to be applied to the necessary expenses of Salis-
bury; that the Collector of Taxes of Salisbury for the year
eighteen hundred and ninety-nine may collect said taxes by
giving the requisite bond, and shall pay over the same, as

now required by law, or on his refusal to act, the Mayor may
appoint some other person to collect said taxes, and require
the necessary bond and to pay such commission as may be
agreed upon, and the said taxes shall be a lien upon the
property of the taxpayers in said town, and be collected in
the same manner as is now provided by law for the collection
of taxes in Salisbury. The taxes herein directed to be levied
shall be levied upon the basis of the assessment made under
the direction of the Mayor and Council of Salisbury in the
year eighteen hundred and ninety-nine; said tax shall be due
and demandable on the first day of July, nineteen hundred,
and bear interest from the first day of July, nineteen hun-
dred.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 154.
AN ACT to amend the Charter of The American Bonding
and Trust Company of Baltimore City, and to repeal and
re-enact with amendments, Section three of Chapter two
hundred and fifty-two of the Acts of eighteen hundred
and ninety-four, incorporating said Company under the
name of the "American Banking and Trust Company of
Baltimore City," and to repeal and re-enact, with amend-
ments, Sub-section two of Section one, of Chapter forty-
one of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-six,
amending the Charter of said company, and changing its
name to that of "The American Bonding and Trust Com-
pany of Baltimore City," and to increase the capital stock
of said company, and to enlarge the powers of its officers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section three of Chapter two hundred and fifty-
two of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-four, incor-
porating the American Banking and Trust Company of
Baltimore City, and Sub-section two of Section one, of
Chapter forty-one of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-
