purchase real
and personal
property.

and prevent the going at large within the limits of said
town of horses, cattle, sheep, goats, swine, geese, dogs, or
any other brute, beasts or fowl; to have power and authority
to purchase and hold real, personal and mixed property for
the use and benefit of said corporation and the citizens
thereof, and to convey and dispose of the same or any part
thereof; to build or secure a place of confinement for persons
charged or convicted of violating the laws and ordinances of
said corporation of Taneytown, 'and they may pass all laws
and ordinances necessary from time to time to carry out and
enforce the foregoing provisions, and to enforce the observ-
ance of such laws and ordinances by reasonable fines and
penalties, not exceeding fifty dollars in any one case, as may
appear right to them, and they may recover said fines and
penalties by an action of debt, and in addition thereto they

may provide for the imprisonment of the offender or offenders
for a period not exceeding thirty days, or until the fine be
paid; provided, that no greater sum than one hundred dollars
be charged for any one license, and instead of the aforesaid
penalties it shall be lawful, in case of the conviction of any
person for vagrancy, to sentence such person to hard work
for a period not exceeding ten days.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent with
or repugnant to the provisions of this Act be and the same
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency, and
this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 146.
AN ACT to add additional Sections to Article 18 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Queen Anne's County,"
to be designated Sections 28sA, 2856, 285 C, 285C, 285 E,
285 F, 285 G, 285 H, 285 I and 285 K.

of Crumpton,

SECTION 7 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the town of Crumpton, in Queen Anne's County,
is incorporated, and the inhabitants thereof are a body politic
by the name and style of the Commissioners of Crumpton,
and as such may sue and be sued, and may have and use a
common seal, and alter the same at pleasure.

A. All persons entitled to vote for delegates to the
General Assembly of Maryland, and who have resided within
the corporate limits of said town of Crumpton for six months
