penalties thereto affixed, they may affix thereto such reason-
able fines, not exceeding fifty dollars in any case, as to them
may appear right, and in default of the payment of a fine
imposed they may provide for the imprisonment of the offend-
ers for a period not exceeding thirty days, or until the fines
are paid; provided, however, that nothing in this Act shall
be construed to lessen or impair the local law now in force in
Montgomery county prohibiting the sale, bartering and
trading, directly or indirectly, of intoxicating liquors, but
that said local law shall remain in full force and effect as to
that portion of the Town of Takoma Park embraced within
the limits of said Montgomery county in every particular as
if this Act had never been passed.

CHAPTER 113.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Commissioners of St.
Michaels to borrow money on the credit of said town for
the purpose of constructing Water Works and Electric
Lights for said town, to issue bonds for the payment of the
same, and to levy taxes on the assessable property of said
town to redeem said bonds, and pay the interest thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of establishing, constructing and
maintaining water works and electric light plant for the town
of St. Michaels, the Commissioners of St. Michaels are hereby
authorized and empowered, if in their judgment they deem it
expedient and proper, to borrow money on the credit and faith
of said town to an amount not exceeding fifteen thousand

dollars, and to issue bonds of said town in payment of said
sum so to be borrowed. Of the moneys arising from the sale
of said bonds, the sum of twelve thousand dollars shall be
used for the construction of water works and the service con-
nections, and three thousand dollars shall be used for the
construction and equipment of an electric light plant. The
said bonds shall be for sums not less than fifty dollars nor
more than one thousand dollars each, to be signed by the
President of the Board of Commissioners of St. Michaels, and
countersigned by the clerk to said Commissioners, with cor-
porate seal of said town thereto affixed, and to be registered
by said clerk in a separate book to be especially provided for
the purpose. The said bonds shall be issued at such time as
