The President announced that there were 24 votes, of which Mr Ritter received 14 votes and Mr. Quinlan re- ceived 10 votes. Mr. Ritter having received a majority of all the votes cast, was duly elected Secretary of the Senate. Mr. Ritter was qualified by the President and. entered upon the discharge of his duties.
