Mr. Crothers, from the Committee on Finance, reported favorably with proposed amendment, Senate bill No. 111, entitled "An Act ro repeal chapter 262, of the Public General Laws of Maryland, of 1872, entitled an Act to ratify and confirm the appointment by the Governor of Daniel Clarke and Sidney I. Wales, as commissioners on behalf of the State of Maryland, to prosecute the settlement of the claims of said State against the Gov€rnment of the United States for expenses in- curred under the Act of Congress, approvel on the 27th of July, in the year 1861, and fixing the commission on the amount hereafter to be recovered by them and paid into the Treasury of said State, to be paid to them in full of their services and expenses, and providing for the fil- ing of any vacancy caused by the death or refusal or failure to act as such of the commissioners herein named, and as said Act was repealed and re-enacted with amend- ments by the Act of the General Assembly of Maryland, of the year 1898, chapter 224, and re-enact the same with amendments." 36 |
