At 10.20 P. M.,
On motion of Mr. Moses,
The Senate went into Executive Session.
At 10.30 P. M.,
On motion of Mr. Brewington,
The Senate resumed Legislative business.

The following message from the Executive was read:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

ANNAPOLIS, MD., Feb. 19th, 1900.

Honorable John Hubner,
President of the Senate:
I have the honor to return herewith without my ap-
proval, Senate bill, chapter 14, entitled an Act to permit
the ‘United Railways and Electric Company of Baltimore
to increase its board of Directors from the present num-
ber, to-wit: nine (9) unto eleven (11), and to provide that
of such number two (2) may be citizens and residents of
States other than the State of Maryland, because on con-
sideration I have concluded that it requires a change in
its phraseology so as to give it greater certainty.
Respectfully,
JoHN WALTER SMITH,

Governor.
Which was considered,
The question being,
Shall the veto of the Executive be sustained?
It was determined in the affirmative by yeas and nays
as follows:
AFFIRMATIVE.
Messrs. President, Marsh,
Applegarth, Messick,
Beasman, Moore,
Betts. Moses,
Bouic, Peter,
