Federal Relations.

Mr. Marsh presented a petition from the citizens of
Calvert county, asking for the shortening of the oyster
season in the waters of the Patuxent, and asking no ob-
structions to the free use of the deep water oyster tongs.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries.


ORDERS.

On motion of Mr. Peter, it was

Ordered, That Senators Bryan and Kirwan be excused
from attendance on to-night's session, and also Senators
Dick, Baker, Ravenscroft and Moore.

On motion of Mr. Rohrback, it was

Ordered, That the Seeretary be, and he is authorized
and directed to procure a suitable and comfortable chair
for the use of the President in the Senate.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on.
Finance.

INTRODUCTION OF BILLS.

A bill entitled "An Act to extend the privileges, enlarge
the powers and amend the charter of the Land and Loan
Association of Ellicott City and Howard county, so as to
enable it to loan money on or purchase promissory and
negotiable notes, bills obligatory or other evidences of
debt."

Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Corporations.
