FURTHER AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
By Mr. Williams, of Harford,
In line 9, of printed bill, strike out the words "for the
term of four years” and insert in lieu thereof, as follows:
"one-third for the term of two years, one-third for the
term of four years and one-third for the term of six
years," and
In line 27, of printed bill, add the following words,
after the word "Constitution” that is to say "at the time
of making the appointments the Governor shall desig-
nate the members of each board who shall serve for two,
four and six years respectively; and thereafter the Gov-
ernor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate,
shall appoint at every regular session of the General
Assembly, in each of the counties of Baltimore, Carroll,
Frederick and Washington, two members of said boards
and in each of the other counties, one member thereof to
serve for the term of six years, from the first day of
August next succeeding their appointment, so that one-
third of each of said boards shall be appointed every
two years."
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
By Mr. Bryan.
Amend by striking out all words on line 8, of printed
bill, after the word "persons," down to the word "said,"
on the 10th line of the bill, and insert in lieu thereof
after the word "persons," on said 8th line, the following:
‘Two of whom, in the counties of Baltimore, Carroll,
Dorchester, Frederick and Washington, and one of
whom in each of the other counties shall hold their
office for the term of two years, two of whom, in the
counties of Baltimore, Carroll, Dorchester and Washing-
ton, and one in each of the other counties shall hold their
office for the term of four years; and two of whom in the
counties of Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Dorchester and
Washington, and one of whom in each of the other coun-
5ies shall hold their office for the term of six years from the
first Monday of May next succeeding their appointment
and until their successors shall qualify. The Governor
shall, at the time of making said appointments designate
the term of years of each of the said commissioners when
first apointed under this Act. The term of office of the
