1900.] OP THE SENATE. 1491
Mr. Putzel offered the following resolution:
Resolved, That the thanks of the Senate of Maryland,
be, and the same are hereby, extended to the Hon. John
Hubner, for the able, courteous, dignified and impartial
manner In which he has presided over the sessions of
the Senate.
Which was adopted.
Also, the following order:
Ordered, That the thanks of the Senate be, and the
-same are.hereby, tendered the Secretary and officers and
employes of the Senate for the faithful discharge of
their responsible duties.
Which was adopted.
At 12 mId-night, the President addressed the Senate
as follows:
SENATORS: —The time has arrived for me to declare
that the Session of 1900 has come- to an end. It has been
a busy session and I sincerely hope that the work accom-
plished will meet with the approval of the people of the
State.
We may have done some things which we might not to
have done, nd have left undone some things which we
ought to have done. This is inevitable In all legislative
assemblies, and In any event there will be disappoint-
ments. But I feel sure that all of us have been actuated
by to other motive than to advance the interests and
general welfare of our State, and every class of its citi-
zens.
To me, personally, you have been more than kind.
- Both sides of this Chamber have treated me with the
greatest respect and consideration and whatever success
I may have met with, Is largely due to your forebearance
and the assistance that I have received at your hands.
To the officers and employees of the Senate I extend
my sincere thanks for this aid rendered to me, and it
gives the pleasure to testify to their efficiency and zeal.
They have honestly and faithfully performed their re-
spective duties.
During the session of ninety days now closing many
friendships have been formed and it is to be hoped that
