The Senate concurred severally in the proposed amend- ments, and The bill, as amended, was passed by yeas and nays -as follows: AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Dodson, Baker, Gray, Betts, Kirwan, Bouic, Marsh, Brewington, Messick, Bryan, Moses, Dennis, Rohrback, Dick, Wilkinson—18. NEGATIVE—None. Also returned, Senate bill No. 159, entitled "An Act to amend the charter of the Cumberland Savings Bank, so as to authorize said bank to engage in and conduct a general banking business." Endorsed: "Amended, read the third time and passed by yeas and nays." AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Amend by striking out the whole of "section 3," and substituting the following: "Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the stock- holders of said Oumberland Savings Bank, shall he liable to the amount of their respective share or shares of stock, in said bank, for all its debts or liabilities upon notes, bills or otherwise. "Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage."
