1362 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS - [Apr. 2 Mr. Crothers, from Committee on Finance, reported favorably, with proposed amendments, House bill entitled "An Act to appropriate certain sums of money to the support of sundry schools and charitable institutions in the State of Maryland for each of the two fiscal years ending on September 30th, 1901, and on September 30th, 1902, respectively." AMENDMENT PROPOSED. Amend by striking out the word "three” on line 11 of printed bill, and inserting the word "five” in lieu thereof; and by striking out the word "three” on line 92 of print- ed bill, and inserting the word "five” in lieu thereof. Which proposed amendment was adopted. AMENDMENT PROPOSED. At end of section 1 add: "To the managers of the Maryland Hospital for the Insane, Spring Grove, in ad- dition to the $20,000 already appropriated for the years 1901 and 1902, $5,000 for the year 1901, and $5,000 for the year 1902." Which proposed amendment was adopted. AMENDMENT PROPOSED. In line 1 of section 22 of the engrossed bill strike out the word "three” and insert in lieu thereof the word "five." Which proposed amendment was rejected. AMENDMENT PROPOSED. In line 2 of section 2 strike out the word "Treasurer” and insert the word "Treasury." Which proposed amendment was adopted. AMENDMENT PROPOSED. "Sub-section 60. In State Bureau of Immigration the sum of $3,000 for the fiscal ye.ar 1901 and the like sum of $3,000 for the fiscal year 1902. said sum to be known and designated as the ‘Immigration Fund' in accordance -with the Acts of 1898, chapter 282, section 11."
