"Section 16. And be it further enacted that the stock-
holders of the State Trust and Deposit Company
shall be liable to the amount of their respective share or
shares of stock in said company for all its debts and
liabilities upon note, bill or otherwise. "

"Sec. 17. And be it further enacted, that this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage. "

House bill entitled "An Act to extend the privileges,
enlarge the powers and amend the charter of the Union
Mills Savings Bank of Carroll county, Maryland, so as to
enable it to loan money on or purchase promissory and
negotiable notes, bills obligatory or other evidences of
debt. "

Amend by striking out the whole of section 7 and sub-
stituting the following:
