licensed assistant pharmacist, to compound a physicians'
prescriptions. "
Amend by inserting the following after the word "com-
pounded, " and before the word "and" in the 4th line:
"That any person over the age of seventeen who, at the
passage of this Act, is employed as clerk or assistant in a
pharmacy in this State, and has been actively engaged
for two consecutive years in a pharmacy where physi-
cians' prescriptions are daily compounded, that any per-
son over the age of sixteen who, at the passage of this
Act, is employed as a clerk or assistant in a pharmacy in
this State, and has been actively engaged for three con-
secutive years in a pharmacy where physicians' prescrip-
tions are daily compounded. "
Add "Sec. 17. And be it further enacted, That this
Act shall take effect from the date of its passage. "

146 B, 146 C, 146 D, 146 E, 146 E-1, and 146 F, of Arti-
cle 81, of the Code of Public General Laws, title 'Reve-
nue and Taxes, ' as amended by chapter 120, of the Acts
of Assembly in the year 1896, and chapters 303 and 305,
of the Acts of Assembly in the year 1898. "

AMENDMENT PROPOSED,
Strike out all after the word "a bill" and insert the
following.
Entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments, sections 146 A and 146 E, of Article 81, of the
Code of Public General Laws, title 'Revenue and Taxes, '
as enacted by chapter 120, of the Acts of Assembly in
the year 1896, and to add two new sections to follow
148 F, and to be designated '146- G and 146 H. '"
"146 A. All mortgages or assignees holding mortgages
of record in this State, shall annually pay a tax of twelve
per centum upon the gross amount of interest covenanted
to be paid each year to said mortgagor, his assigns, by
the mortgagor to be collected by the proper authorities
