re-enact the same with amendments, " respectfully report,
that they have met and considered said disagreeing
votes, and they do recommend that the House of Del-
egates concur in all the amendments proposed by
the Senate, except that to strike out lines from 52
to 59 (per engrossed bill), inclusive, of Code sec-
tion 262 C, and they do recommend that said lines
of said section stand as in the original bill, and that said
section be amended by adding thereto (at the end of line
47 of printed bill, or 59 of engrossed bill), the following
words:

"And for the purpose of gelling personal property to
collect taxes, the said treasurer shall have, in addition to
the power conferred by this sub-title, all the powers
possessed by collectors of taxes in said county prior to
the passage of the Act of 1808, chapter 204. "

And they do further recommend that said bill be
further amended as follows:

1. By inserting in line 73 of Code section 262 N of
said printed bill, after the word "aforesaid, " the words
"except witnesses. "

2. By adding at the end of section 2 of said bill the
following words:

"But nothing herein contained is intended or shall be
construed to interfere with or defeat any proceedings
already instituted by the said treasurer for the collection,
of taxes for the years 1898 or 1899. ''

And they do further recommend that said bill with
the amendments proposed and agreed to by the Joint
Committee of Conference be passed. The amendments
proposed by the Senate are on pages 476 and 477, of
Senate Journal.
