House bill entitled "An Act in relation to the validity
of certain contracts. "

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out after the words "a bill" and insert the fol-
lowing:

Entitled "An Act to add a new section to Article 35,
of the Maryland Code of Public General Laws, entitled
'Evidence, ' to follow after section 36, of said Article,
under the sub-title 'Proof of Consideration, ' and to be
known as 'Section 46 A. "

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland that the following new section be added to
Article 35, entitled 'Evidence, ' of the Maryland Code of
Public General Laws, to follow immediately after section
46, of said Article, under the sub-title 'Proof of Consid-
eration, ' to be known as 'Section 46 A, ' and to read as
follows:

PROOF OF CONSIDERATION.

Section 46 A. No promise to answer for the debt, de-
fault or miscarriage of another person, shall be deemed
invalid to support an action against a person by whom
such promise was made, by reason only of the fact that
the consideration for such promise does not appear in
writing, or by necessary implication from a writing.

Which amendment was adopted and the bill was read
a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a third
reading.

Also,

Senate bill entitled "An Act to repeal section 3, of
chapter 497, of the Acts of the General Assembly of
Maryland, session 1898, entitled an Act to authorize and
direct the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county
to build a bridge over Curtis creek and also to build a
bridge over Cabin branch, a tributary of said Curtis
creek, and to provide, by the issuance of bonds, the
means for building the same, and making said bridges
free for public travel. "

Which was read a second time.
