BILLS—SECOND READING.
House bill entitled "An Act to repeal and re-enact with
amendments sections 1 and 3 of chapter 540 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland, 1894, being an
' Act to authorize the Great Falls Power Company to erect
dams, hold real estate, and to erect and maintain lines for
the transmission of electricity in Montgomery and Prince
George counties, in the State of Maryland, and to add an
additional section thereto, to be called section 3 A'; grant
certain additional powers, rights and privileges unto the
said Great Falls Power Company. "
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
By Committee on Corporations,
Amend section 1, by striking out all after the word
''however" in line 23, and inserting the following:
"That the acceptance of this Act shall oblige and bind
the Great Falls Power Company not to take, occupy, use,
interfere with or damage, any property or right vested
in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, acquired as
the successor of the Potomac Company or otherwise, and
not to endanger any part of the canal or works of said
canal company in any degree by liability to flood, except
