AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

At the end of Section 1, insert and add the words "en-
gaged in life, health or accident insurance business. "

In line 8, (same section, ) after word "may, " strike out
the word "except, " find insert word "accept. "

In section 5, line 6, insert the word "the" after the
word "stockholder. "

In section 7, line 5, after the word "State, " insert the
words "so far as the same may be necessary for the pur-
poses of this Act and not contrary to or in conflict with
the provisions thereof. "

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Duncan, from Committee on Temperance, reported
unfavorably,

House bill entitled "An Act to prohibit the mainte-
nance of free lunches in the city of Baltimore and provid-
ing penalties for violation of the same. "

Which unfavorable report was adopted.

Mr. Collins, from Committee on Claims, reported
favorably, the following order;

Ordered, That Thomas Quinly, messenger to the Com-
mittee on Claims, be paid $5 per day, being the same
compensation heretofore paid the messenger of that
committee, dating from January 15th, 1900.
