RESOLUTIONS assented to November Session, 1800.
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore deliver up to Richard
Waters, John Done and George
Waters, or their order, or the order of either of them, the bond given
to the state of Maryland for the
purchase money for Lot No. 1, being part of the Nanticoke Indian lands,
purchased by said Richard Waters of
the late intendant of the revenue, to be cancelled.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore be
and he is hereby requested to deliver up to Edward
Watts his bond, dated the sixth day of February, seventeen hundred and
eighty-two, with Benjamin Talbot and
Henry Oram his securities, and on which there is a balance due of one
hundred and twenty-eight pounds; and
that the said Edward Watts, Benjamin Talbot and Henry Oram, securities
for said Edward Watts, be and they
are hereby released from a judgment obtained by the said state on said
bond.
Resolved, That George Campbell be and he is hereby
placed on the pension list of this state, and that the
treasurer of the state be and he is hereby authorised to pay him
fifty dollars per annum, in quarterly payments.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore
pay to Charles Bossom, of Baltimore county, or his order,
the sum of five pounds eight shillings and ten-pence, with interest
thereon from the fifteenth day of November,
seventeen hundred and ninety-six, it being a balance due the said Bossom
on the books of the treasury.
Whereas it is represented to this general assembly,
that negro Jem, the slave of a certain Richard Britton, of
Baltimore county, was convicted of arson at a court of oyer and terminer
and gaol delivery held for Baltimore
county, at the court-house in said county, on the first Monday in March,
eighteen hundred, and was sentenced
to be hanged, which said sentence was commuted to banishment out of the
United States, and that the said
negro slave was valued by the said court to the sum of seventy-five
pounds current money; therefore, Resolved,
That the treasurer of the western shore pay to the said Richard Britton,
or order, the sum of seventy-five
pounds current money, the valuation of the said negro slave Jem.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
to Joshua Jarboe, or his legal representatives, the sum
of seven pounds eight shillings and nine-pence, with interest thereon from
the fifteenth day of September, seventeen
hundred and eighty-one.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
unto Samuel Bond, executor of Henry Greenfield
Sothoron, the sum of twenty-eight pounds six shillings and two-pence
current money, with interest from the
thirty-first day of August, seventeen hundred and ninety-one, being so
much overpaid by the said Henry Greenfield
Sothoron for land purchased of the state of Maryland in the reserves of
Calverton manor, in Charles county.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore
pay to John Gibson, or his order, the sum of eighteen
pounds current money of Maryland, with interest at the rate of six per
cent. from the eighth day of September,
1786, till paid.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore
credit the account upon the treasury books against
Thomas Renshaw, with the amount of the same, and also issue an order
to the register of the land-office, to make
out and issue a patent to said Thomas Renshaw, or his assigns, for part
of a tract of land purchased by him of the
intendant, and called and returned by said intendant as part of Wheeler's
Leases, agreeably to the certificate of
survey signed by the surveyor of Harford county; provided the said Thomas
Renshaw make it appear, to the
satisfaction of the said treasurer, that he has paid to the sheriff of
Harford county, or his deputies, the amount
of the debt, interest and costs, endorsed on a writ of fieri facias issued
upon a judgment obtained in the general
court of the western shore against said Thomas Renshaw, upon his bond at
the suit of the state of Maryland, and
shall produce the receipt or receipts of the said sheriff or his deputies
for the same.
Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore
of the state be and he is hereby authorised ad directed
to negotiate with the bank of Baltimore, for the use and in behalf of the
state of Maryland, a loan of a sum of
money, not exceeding thirty thousand dollars, at an interest not exceeding
the rate of six per cent. per annum, and
that the same be repaid to the said bank of Baltimore by the said treasurer
out of the unappropriated monies that
may from time to time be received into the treasury.
Resolved, That the chancellor be and he is hereby
authorised to inquire into all the circumstances, touching
the execution of a special warrant of resurvey granted to a certain Talbot
Shipley, late of Anne-Arundel county,
